White Apricot Blossom (Nhat Chi Mai) is known as one of the ten rare and precious flowers, holding a significant place in Vietnamese art and literature. A famous Vietnamese poet Cao Ba Quat in the 19th century once wrote: “In my whole life, I only kowtow before the apricot flower”. These flowers are pure white, blooming on tiny branches like snowflakes. It symbolizes strength, nobility, and modesty. The beauty of the White Apricot Blossom lies in the fact that it blooms in the harshest of winter conditions. Its resilience and perseverance have made it a symbol of courage and strength. The flower is also known as the flower of Five Blessings, as its five petals represent happiness, wealth, longevity, peace, and success.
White Apricot Blossom Garden in Ta Phin Village, Sapa
Ta Phin Village, Sapa is home to hundreds of White Apricot Blossom (Nhat Chi Mai) Trees. In spring, the blooming apricot flowers create some truly stunning views. A soft breeze sends the white petals fluttering into the air, creating a poetic scene reminiscent of butterflies dancing in the sky will take our breath away. White Apricot Blossom is not only a flower but it has become an integral part in the life of Vietnamese people, especially when the Lunar New Year is around. As a traditional feature, every family in Vietnam would buy one or some types of flower that appear only in Tet, and White Apricot Blossom is the second common after Peach Blossom in Northern Areas of Vietnam to enjoy the Tet’s joyous atmosphere and hope for lots of luck in the year ahead.
